History: The Pittsburgh Steelers began play in 1933 and managed to post just 2 winning records in their first 20 seasons. Aside from an Eastern Division title in 1947, it wasn't until the early 1970s when Head Coach Chuck Noll and the Steelers began to put the NFL on notice that a new force was taking shape. Led by quarterback Terry Bradshaw and his receiving corps of Lynn Swann and John Stallworth, and the punishing ground attack of Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier, the Steelers captured 4 Super Bowl titles in the 1970s. Of course the "Steel Curtain" defense dominated opponents with Pro Football Hall of Famers Jack Lambert, Mel Blount, "Mean" Joe Greene, and Jack Ham leading the way. The Steelers added 2 more Super Bowl trophies in 2005 and 2008 and remain consistent winners - only 4 losing seasons in the past 30 years. Today, the Steelers are members of the AFC Northern division and play their home games in Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA.
